Ma’ata Tukuafu has always been interested in people’s lives and stories, culture, the arts, and education. Beginning her writing career in 2001, Ma’ata has written numerous human interest stories that have appeared in local Hawai’i newspapers and magazines. “I have learned so much about people by listening to their stories,” Ma’ata says. “If I can touch one person’s life by writing up a story that either motivates someone or causes change, then I have done my job.”
